My wife and I were shocked to receive a letter from GM a couple of days ago, announcing their withdrawal of Parkway's status as a recognized GM service provider. In fact, just this evening we were discussing how to respond to them - angry, calm, something in between... - but firmly saying that we will abandon GM long before we abandon Parkway, which has given us nothing but excellent and friendly service over the years. I wish you the best of success in your legal struggle, but please be sure that this family will remain your loyal customer, and friend, no matter what happens. All the best for the holiday season, Avrum Rosner

The reason we chose to buy our GMC Vehicle from Parkway as opposed to other dealers is because of the professionalism & customer sevice from the beginning. From the salesman to the service department I was always treated with the utmost respect. And more important is that what was promised was delivered. There were never any disputes.I compliment the whole team,& now as a retired businessman I believe that the success of the Parkway team is a direct result of the Hoy family business ethic.

jennifer hamilton Wednesday, 15 December 2010 at 11:01 pm

Knowing the excellent service that they provide I am certain that they will continue to get a lot of business from their customers. I bought my car there and then moved out of the province and have jumped from dealer to dealer for service because its very hard to find good service like I did there.

Thank you all on behalf of the Hoy and Parkway families for your sincere and kind words. If you wish to convey anything by email to the hoy family please send it to : hoyfamily@parkway.ca Happy Holidays to all.

I have bought 5 different cars at another dealer but have gotten bad service but since I switched to parkway over a year ago the service has been more then I've ever gotten in the past. I can't see servicing my car and my wifes any where else. I didnot appreciate the nasty letter I received from gm last week notifing me that parkway was no longer a gm authorized dealer. To that response I have already serviced both mine and my wifes car at parkway in the last two days. If gm prosites in not reinstating parkway they are going to loose my business

dominique renaud Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 02:51 am

I bought my 1st North American made car ( GM ) last year after having my Audi stolen. A good part of my decision was based on the reputation of the dealer ( Parkway ) servicing my car and the proximity to my home. I was quite dissapointed to find out of the forced closure of this West Island landmark . I have received AAA service from this dealer for the past year and a half and I will simply sell my car and choose a manufacturer that can stand behind it's dealers. Especially after post re-structuring.

I have had the pleasure to do business with this professional team at Parkway and feel that I can count on them for support me in the future. I will continue to be a loyal client. I do not believe that my wife would let me change even if I wanted.. she is very happy here.

I have had nothing but great service at Parkway and I won't go anywhere else. I support your efforts to stay open. I will also abandon GM if I can't get my car serviced at Parkway. Good luck in all your endeavors.

I've been a loyal customer to Parkway for over 15 years and receiving good service by the staff (mechanics, sales rep - Tony Herrero). I've bought both Pontiac and Chevolet cars all my life - and do this day - I still prefer Pontiac cars. I was very shocked that GM Canada had decided to close the doors on Parkway even after the fact they own the land and one of the top dealers known for the selling and service. I've gone to other dealerships for service when I was in a bind - and the service "welcoming and warm reception" from those places were lacking. Perhaps, GM has now giving me the green light to go for a Japanese car when the time comes to purchase my next car. Bravo GM !!! I just want to wish all the staff at Parkway all the best with the legal battle and perhaps one day (hopefully in a short time) we can be a family again.!

Linda McLean Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 08:41 am

I am totally confused!! I got the letter the other day and don't understand why company would put thousands of $$ into renovations just to ship loyal customers somerwhere else? What will hapen to my summer tires? Will they be transfered to the other location? I have been getting really exceptional service at Parkway and really don't want to go somewhere else. The guys in the garage are more than helpful and went beyond the call of duty many times for me! Thanks so much for everything, Guy and team as well as the girls in the office, Please let me know what to next! How I can help if you need me. Sincerely, Linda (Miss Mailbu)

Fred Firestone Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 08:51 am

After purchasing my Buick in April from Parkway I was hoping for continuity. Everyone I dealt with were most helpful and friendly. Most important they were prompt in responding to any phone calls and questions. Even after the sale, the Salesman and Sales Manager continue to be involved. I wish Parkway success in winning their case.

Suzy Q Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 09:09 am

Vous me décevez grandement. Je m'attendais à plus de Parkway and I will tell 10 friends about the poor service I got there.

tom pitts Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 09:16 am

I HAVE ALREADY E MAIL GM TO ADVISE THEM OF MY FEELINGS ON THEIR CLOSING PARKWAY.AS I STATED TO THEM JAPANESE DEALERS ARE OPENING UP ALL OVER THE WEST ISLAND OF MONTREAL AND GM ARE CLOSING DOWN DEALERS.BEFORE I PURCHASE ANOTHER GM CAR I WILL BE LOOKING AT IMPORTED CARS IN MY AREA.

M-A Fontaine Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 09:22 am

Ron H Pilon Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 09:34 am

I developed a relationship with Parkway about two ago and very pleased with the friendship and workmanship your team provides.Sorrey to hear about GM ill concieved decision.which i believe is a carry over from the destructive team at the top of GM during their decline,The new team at GM HQ should review all of the sabotage decisions of the past defunct team led by Wagoner. I do wish your success in trying to open the eyes of corporate GM to continue with a corner stone of the Montreal auto industry. Best Wishes Ronald H Pilon

I was really taken aback by GM's decision regarding their position on Parkway. I am on my fourth vehicle purchased at Parkway because of the great service I get there. Unfortunately I recently had to purchase a new vehicle and opted for an Infinity instead of the Buick Enclave for two reasons: I could not get it from Parkway and I could not lease it. I have another GM vehicle lease coming due and I really hope Parkway will be a GM dealer by then.

Guy Mantoura Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 10:16 am

I leased a Malibu for four years, then a Cobalt for another four years. The transactions were made through Plaza. But Plaza's service is to say the least very bad. I definitely stopped going to Plaza to service my car because the people there are uncourteous and the quality of service deplorable. If I have to go the Plaza for my next GM car, I.ll definitely buy another make.

Kyle Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 10:21 am

I agree with all the comments. It is ludicrous that GM is doing that, considering what a profitable and excellent dealer Parkway is. I've been driving and going to Parkway since I purchased my first car, and if Parkway closes on TOP of the fact that I can no longer by my Pontiac's, I have NO reason to continue with GM. I will absolutely by another brand of car. This is sad and disappointing and I've already sent frustration letters to GM.

To all our loyal customers. Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and support. In all honesty it has not been easy, but we are still here and still strong! This has been an emotional roller coaster ride for our employees and their families, but the Hoy's are people of valor and integrity and they are leading us through these difficult days with words of wisdom and strong leadership. If there is one lesson that I am getting from all of this is that one must never be afraid to stand up for what is right, and never fold under pressure tactics or bullying methods. We are one loyal group of people here at Parkway and our bonds are strong! We love what we do and we do it well. We are thankful for all the wonderful customers that benefit from our professions, and we ask nothing more but to continue doing so. So during this Holiday Season we wish you all health and happiness and please drop in and see us if not to take care of your automotive needs but just as friends to chat and share a warm cup of coffee or tea on a cold winter day. So stay tuned, more to come soon ...

PDERYCKER Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 03:46 pm

Clive Edwards Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 03:53 pm

This is just plain wrong. I have received nothing but great service and supportive follow-up from everyone I deal with at Parkway. A renowned dealership with a long history should not be treated this way by GM. I will continue to support Parkway with my business.

Giovanni D Onofrio Thursday, 16 December 2010 at 05:25 pm

In 2005 I made a carreer change and took a course as a sales and leasing consultant. As a newcomer in the business I had to find a job. Believe or not Parkway opened there doors for me and started working right away selling pontiacs and buicks.I learned alot from Frank and Nick very friendly and helpfull people. I believed so much in the product that I decided to lease a brand new Pontiac Torrent. Presently I do not work there anymore but I still brought my vehicle for service at Parkway and was very satisfied with the service and the friendlyness of the sales staff. I was shocked when I got the letter from GM. I WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER GM DEALER !!! other than Parkway. that dealership is a friend no matter what happens and I will continue to pass by and say hello to my friends and the Dealer.

Leased or purchased last two vehicles through Parkway due to location close to my work and home. This will seriously affect my decision for future purchase or lease.

Dick Gotcherian Friday, 17 December 2010 at 08:49 pm

My wife and I have purchased 3 vehicles over the last several years from Parkway, mainly due to the exceptional service and human touch of our sales rep: :Mr.Robert Martin and the courteous service provided to us by the service department. We practically looked forward to our next vehicle with excitement ! In my opinion, if this decision is not reversed, everyone will lose - and GM will likely lose many customers for good. I would hope that reason will prevail and this error will be rectified I don't know if GM will read this blog - but customers have power - so let us know if there is anything else that we can do,. I wish you good luck in your battle and Happy Holidays

WE ARE OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!!! We appreciate everyone's loyalty and support. We are and will still be there for you Thank you From the Hoy and Parkway family. To all our clients, please take note that we are still here to serve you and to provide you with all your acquisition, maintenance and repair needs for your GM vehicles. You have probably already received a letter from GM dated December 6th 2010 advising you that we are no longer an authorised GM Dealer since November 1st 2010. The most frequently asked question by most is: “Why are we only being advised now, why not at the beginning of November or even the end of October? “ Our position in firm and clear, GM does not have the right to terminate our agreement and since the beginning of November have undertaken legal actions against GM and that the decision was ill founded. The court proceedings have been ongoing and will continue into the New Year. For these reasons we are depending on your continued support and loyalty and assure you that we have no intentions to close our doors or to go away. So please call us or email us to schedule an appointment, ask for clarifications or simply answer one or more of your questions, and rest assured that we will continue providing you with the best service. Here are for your convenience our Telephone numbers and emails to reach us. info@parkway.ca , sales@parkway.ca , partsandaccessories@parkway.ca , service@parkway.ca Sales: (514) 333-7070, Service: (514) 333-5140, Parts: (514) 333-7090, Toll Free: 1-800-361-9660

I visited three GM dealers before choosing Parkway to purchase my 2010 model car. I had a very bad experience with one and the other while welcoming seemed to be inexperienced...not too knowledgeable on the model I was interested in. At Parkway, I was well received by a very knoweldgeable sales rep. Also, Parkway and I reached a fair purchase arrangement.

Normand Beaudin Sunday, 19 December 2010 at 10:22 am

Sammy Pinsky Sunday, 19 December 2010 at 12:21 pm

GM closing Harland in Dorval I turned to Parkway and have received very professional service there. I always buy North American built cars. I loved going to Parkway because of the proximity to my home. Please don't close this dealership. I had intended in buying my next car there in 2012.

NA Sunday, 19 December 2010 at 03:39 pm

This decision has not been reached without consideration of several factors. Probably, you are doing a good job technically, but that does not mean you are perfect. One of the factor, is customer service. I have experienced personally very agressive way from the Parkway side. You need to assess every point in your business. I am sorry to say that but this is a fact.

Diane Campeau Thursday, 13 January 2011 at 06:56 pm

popo Tuesday, 08 February 2011 at 12:27 pm

I wonder how many of these "bloggers" are Parkway employees...

ByeByeParkway Tuesday, 12 April 2011 at 12:59 pm

Noticed that the "Parkway News" wasn't updated to reflect the fact that their injunction request concerning the sign removals was DENIED. Time for the Hoys to turn off the lights and go home. Montreal is tired of hearing about Parkway.

kevin Wednesday, 20 July 2011 at 10:45 pm

this icon should not be refused to stay open if g.m. officials ACTUALLYY!!!!! knew how there 12.5 million dollar new enterprise in pincourt was really run they would think twice about really closing a REAL dealership!!!!!!!!!!!!!!think about this

jack.c. Thursday, 21 July 2011 at 12:11 am

wow kevin,,i hear that,, im a customer there,,service is terrible,,why should we pay these high prices to help pay a new facility!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love g.m. cars but as i see from my district and service there im looking into a toyota for 2012

ParkwayIsDone Tuesday, 02 August 2011 at 01:11 pm

While there may be issues with the Pincourt dealership, this would not justify leaving a dealership as inept as Parkway in operation. I contacted GM's public relations department when Parkway closed, and was told that the decision to revoke their franchise was made after reviewing customer complaints and performance records from previous years. They were not chosen at random.

Anonymous Monday, 17 October 2011 at 12:57 pm

Typical Hoy move... Angry that GM justifiably removed their franchise, so they turn around and try to terminate the lease of their competition next door. Revenge and spite seem to be what the Hoys serve up best. Hoy is such a cow.

Marilyn Theriault Wednesday, 08 February 2012 at 10:38 am

Obvioulsy if you post a comment with anonymous attached to it you are either to scared to stand up and identify yourself, or you feel this is your free pass to call an honorable and hard working family COW. Shame on you! Why don't you get informed and find out what this is really about.....

been buying part for a long time at Parkway, suddenly, they dont supplies gm parts for cars, trucks, and commercial and medium duty, what went wrong,an to my surprise most of the best parts persons are resigning or lay off,Iheard that you guys were gonna win in court,I guess the owners still have money, but again, who pays the bill, the workers, some will lose their jobs after working for parkway for many years, good luck to these employees and for the management maybe to update this old building and change some of the manager, that dont seem to do a hell of a lot,get some fresh idea, start a new line of vehicles,i guess money can t buy everything.

popo Monday, 10 March 2014 at 01:13 pm

Saw a "for sale or rent" sign on the building yesterday. Finally! Maybe someone will tear this dump down and build something useful.
